New events announced

Exciting times ahead for the Soto 40 fleet as the curtain comes down on a wonderful 2011 racing season in Europe and South America (although we still have the final MedCup from Sept 21). So what’s ahead for the growing fleet?
In 2012 the Class will host the new South American Championship (working title). This will start in Chile with two regattas in March and April then the fleet heads north and across the continent by truck to arrive in Sao Paulo to do Ilhabela Race Week and a regatta in Rio. These two events will also form the basis of the 2012 Mitsubishi Sailing Cup. From there the entire fleet heads to Punta del Este in Uruguay for the final stop of the tour. The finale in Punta del Este will be in September 2012.
There will between 18 - 20 Soto 40s participating in all five events.
Somewhere between November 2012 and February 2013 there will also be the first Soto 40 World Championships which will most likely be held in Chile as the largest Soto 40 fleet is based on the Pacific Ocean. European teams will also be invited to attend this inaugural event where up to 25 yachts are expected.
As we head to Europe there are many new initiatives in the north and south as the MedCup Soto 40 fleet grows and a new event is being established in Northern Europe as well.
