St. Moritz Match Race announces dates of 2011 edition
The 2011 edition of St. Moritz Match Race will take place in the Swiss Alps on August 30 – September 4, 2011.
St. Moritz, November 5, 2010 - The world’s best match racers will once again gather to the Swiss Alps next summer in order to compete for the title of King of the Mountains.
“We are satisfied to already be in a position to confirm the next edition of the event, and to announce its dates”, says Christian Scherrer, the President of St. Moritz Match Race Organising Committee. “Our event is now well known throughout the world and it has a very positive image. The sailors love the environment and the famous Maloja wind; they also enjoy the great level of hospitality. As for our faithful partners, they benefit thanks to St. Moritz Match Race of an environment that gives them the opportunity to invite their guests and partners and to offer them a great entertainment in a stunning environment.”
St. Moritz Match Race is one of the principal stopovers of the match racing annual calendar; it is also Switzerland’s most important match race event. The event is part of ISAF’s match race world championship, the World Match Race Tour.
The 2010 edition of St. Moritz Match Race was a great success; it saw the victory of Frenchman Mathieu Richard, the current leader of the World Match Racing Tour, ahead of Ian Williams (GBR).
The World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) is the leading professional sailing series featuring 9 World Championship events across the globe, sanctioned by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) with “Special Event” status. The 2010 circuit will see its conclusion in December during the prestigious Monsoon Cup.
