Suede monohull now inside Franck Cammas’ base in Brittany, France
Franck Cammas is waiting for his mega trimaran to be back from Cape Town after its stop in the Jules Verne Trophy attempt. But his team has begun its work to enter the next Volvo Ocean Race. Ericsson 4 has been convoyed to Lorient, Brittany, France. After few sails aboard the Juan Kouyoumdjian VOR70, they are beginning the prepare her to became Groupama 4.
Franck Cammas’ sponsor announced last month they signed together until 2015 and that they were entering the next Volvo Ocean Race (rea there).
They are fastly advancing in this new project even if, as soon as Groupama 3 will be back in Lorient (on Sunday may be) they will organize themselves to make a new start on the Jules Verne Trophy course.
As we can see on these photos taken today in Lorient, Ericsson 4’s keel has been put down and the hull is in the shipyard.
The Groupama team has taken place in the “Base des Défis” in Lorient. It is a base built in 1999 for the french team for the America’s Cup (6e Sens).
The Kouyoumdjian designed monohull and lots of conteners have arrived from Sweden. The monohull should receive his new colors soon and be back on the water before spring...
